Congratulations to Liam Nolan, the engineer behind the record-breaking ‘Rather Be’ number 1 single by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne. The track is the fastest-selling song of the year so far, opening with the biggest weekly sale for a January chart-topper since ‘Spaceman’ by Babylon Zoo way back in 1996.
They have become the first UK act to spend four consecutive weeks at Number 1 since ‘Someone Like You’ by Adele three years back.
Spotify also announced that the track has become the most streamed song in a single week ever on the service, after achieving 1.09 million plays in seven days. The only other track to stream over a million times in one week in the UK is Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, however ‘Rather Be’ surpassed the Robots to become the most-streamed track in a single week.
‘Rather Be’ is taken from Clean Bandit’s debut album New Eyes, which is scheduled to be released on May 12 by Atlantic.
