The House of Commons threw open its doors today to host 2014’s Positive for Youth Awards
– run by young people, for young people. These awards recognise the outstanding achievements of the next generation who continue to inspire others through positive projects and musical collaborations, demonstrating how positive role modelling, opportunity and gentle support can truly make a difference.
Metropolis Studios and The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) were proud to be able to support this initiative by sponsoring the “Express Yourself – Inspirational Lyrics” category, which was won by aspiring DJ and MC D’Angelo Ferlance – Oduye.
“ACM and Metropolis work together to nurture both new and established talent, and feel privileged and excited to be sponsoring the Inspirational Lyrics Award at this year’s Positive for Youth Awards. D’angelo (who was nominated by the brilliant DV8 Academy) is a special talent whose work is uniquely thought provoking and positive. He deserves to be heard by a wider audience, and we wish him all the best for future success.”

Each winner, all of whom were between the age of 10 and 20, received an award and a further opportunity for inspiration and personal development. As the winner of 2014’s Inspirational Lyrics Award, D’angelo will receive a day’s studio recording time at Metropolis, plus membership to BASCA.
About the Legacy Project
The Legacy Project was founded in May 2010 by Tiffany Newell and Adam Gibson with nothing more than a dream and a passion to make a difference. Now with a team of volunteers and project workers providing support, resources and ideas for young people across the UK that would like to positively connect with their local community and deliver projects that really make a difference.
The Legacy Project is passionate about empowering young people to step up, have a voice and take action in their local communities. Wherever possible, their aim is to provide positive role modelling during the projects and work with each young person to develop confidence, interpersonal skills and business acumen.
“It is with great pleasure that we are able to support projects and individuals to achieve their full potential. Life often is tough but sometimes just a helping hand can make the difference between a missed chance and great achievements – with which we are always proud to be associated.”
