Metropolis Studios, and its partner The Academy Of Contemporary Music, are delighted at the result of another successful music industry awards show – The Ivor Novello Awards’s.
Metropolis’ Audio Engineer Liam Nolan’s work with Clean Bandit has been widely celebrated in recent times after the band’s success of their debut album, New Eyes. Since Liam recorded New Eyes at Metropolis, including singles such as Real Love and Rather Be – both featuring Jess Glynne – the band have won a Grammy Award and sold over a million copies of Rather Be. To add to this, Clean Bandit last night picked up two Ivor Novello’s for Best Contemporary Song and Most Performed Work sponsored by PRS For Music.
ACM alumnus, Ed Sheeran, picked up the Songwriter of the Year award – presented by Elton John – confirming his status as one of the world’s biggest artists. Earlier in the year Ed picked up nominations at The Grammy Awards, and won two Brit Awards for Best British Album and Best British Male Solo Act. Both of Sheeran’s albums, + and X have since sold over two million copies in the UK, with his most recent reaching the number one spot in fourteen countries.
“Honoured to have won songwriter of the year at the Ivor Novellos, so so cool.”
Ed Sheeran
The Ivor Novello Awards are presented by BASCA in association with PRS for Music. They celebrate, honour and reward excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing. For Clean Bandit, Ed sheeran and all the other winners, Metropolis and ACM offer their congratulations and are proud to be able to have had a part to play in their journeys to the top.
