Ryan Burnett & The Vanguards’ Killer Single is Out Now

At Metropolis we’re hugely excited about the debut single from singer songwriter Ryan Burnett with his new band ‘Ryan Burnett & The Vanguards’. Killers is out today and the band’s sound has drawn some pretty impressive comparisons, from Bruce Springsteen to Tom Petty and Kodaline to Charlie Simpson. But what we like about the track is its originality; it really does speak for itself and brings something fresh to a crowded market.

Ryan brought the iconic game Guitar Hero to life as the face of Guitar Hero Live, which launched last week and is the first completely live version of the game that’s built a cult following, putting Ryan directly in front of an audience of millions. But we’re glad to say that his main focus is his own music and performing the band’s original material to as many new audiences as possible.

At the age of 17 Ryan moved from Manchester to Brighton to study music. This was his path to becoming a pro musician and he went on to form and play in several bands, recording albums and touring all over the world. As every true songwriter aspires to do, Ryan spent time in Nashville, writing and working on new material. After a spell as a solo artist he realised that a solo career wasn’t for him, and so he formed The Vanguards with CJ Evans, Dan Logan and Ben Johnsen. On fronting a band of hugely talented musicians, Ryan says,

“Being part of a band is in my blood: the performance, the brotherhood and the inspiration you can take from one another. CJ Evans is not only the best drummer I have been lucky enough to play with, but I see him as a brother, so he was an obvious choice. I met Dan Logan through the Brighton music scene many years ago; his classic playing style and musical knowledge is second to none. After playing in bands like The Kooks and The Ordinary Boys I invited him to a jam session which he never left! I met Ben Johnsen through running open mic nights in Brighton. He was always there and always blowing everyone away with his playing; we started jamming and he instantly became part of the unit.”

Metropolis London Music is backing Ryan and the band all the way, with Killers produced and mixed by Guy Chambers’ right hand man Paul Stanborough (Katie Melua, Kylie, INXS), and mastered by our own Mazen Murad (The Rolling Stones, Muse, Björk). The single is out now, 30th October.
