This course is an ACM Accredited Programme and will be assessed via a series of practically-based projects intended to help prepare you directly for industry.– The Art of Songwriting
The multibillion dollar, worldwide music industry is entirely built on the song. Songwriting is the beating heart of contemporary music, and songwriters are its life-blood. In this module we will look at the history of songwriting and explore the creative methods that have the produced songs that are part of the fabric of all our lives. It looks at the rich diversity of musical genres and will help you understand the impact and importance of songwriting in society as a whole.

– The Craft of Songwriting
How do you craft the perfect song? This module will teach you the tips, tricks and musical creativity behind the craft
of songwriting. Understanding musical structure and writing lyrics, melodies and harmonies that characterise you as an artist and speak to your audience is key to finding that elusive sound that is unique to you. Through a combination of practical and theoretical work, this module will help you find and develop your musical passion and ability, and turn this into something that will build you a loyal audience and strong musical identity.

– Intellectual property and future marketing
The music industry can be a complex network to navigate. This module introduces you to the structure of the music industry including the key players, terms and organisations, and helps you understand how to present the very best of yourself across multiple platforms and channels using a range of industry marketing tools and techniques.

– Production Skills
You might have the perfect song, 
but how do you turn that into a
unique, attention-grabbing demo and, ultimately, a finished product? This module teaches you studio craft and an understanding of the recording, mixing and mastering process in order to use audio technology and professionals to create a product that represents you as an artist in a competitive industry.

Stagecraft and Presentation
What makes a great performer?
 This module will prepare you for
the stage, equipping you with professional knowledge, skills and techniques to deliver a show stopping live performance. Negotiating the complexities of live sound, touring and performing can be a baptism of fire. This module helps to dispel those myths and teach you not only how to deliver a phenomenal show but most importantly, professionalism when dealing with the complex network of technology, personnel and fans.

– A&R
The traditional role of A&R (Artists and Repertoire ) within a record company was to discover talented musicians and songwriters and nurture and develop them into a fully-fledged recording artists. In today’s rapidly changing media landscape, however, the aspiring artist needs to develop momentum before approaching record labels, publishers, managers and bookers. This module, designed and delivered by tutors with deep experience of this process, will help you find your way as an artist, and give you the momentum you need to engage successfully with the wider music business.

Qualification
This is an ACM Accredited Programme aimed at training students in a vocational pathway direct to industry. On successful completion students will receive an ACM Certificate of Achievement. This qualification has no formal recognition as an entry qualification for Higher Education study.Duration – Accelerated Study

Entry Requirements
Confident performers and emerging songwriters with existing and proven ability in their field or discipline.

Minimum age 16
18 preferred as some opportunities involve working in licensed venues.
