Stuart Hawkes Sweeps Up At The MOBOs

Metropolis Studios, London, is delighted to announce the double MOBO win for legendary Mastering Engineer Stuart Hawkes at last night’s awards. Stuart’s work saw success in the Best Album category, won by Hip Hop artist Krept and Konan for The Long Road Home and Ella Eyre, recipient of the Best Female Award, whose album, Feline, was mastered by Stuart.

Stuart’s illustrious career as mastering engineer spans over 25 years, during which time he has worked with music producers, recording artists and record labels from around the world.

His approach in the mastering studio involves developing a deep understanding of the desired result each artist and producer wants to achieve, meaning he gets involved at the earliest stages of each of his projects. Stuart interprets their needs during the mastering process using primarily analogue audio equipment, as he believes it offers enhanced creative flexibility and enables him to deliver the best possible results for his many clients. Stuart’s glittering client list includes Amy Winehouse, Rudimental, Example, Disclosure, Jessie Ware, and Katy B.

“It was a pleasure working on both these projects, and I’m not surprised to see them win. Well deserved by both artists.”
Stuart Hawkes, Metropolis Mastering.

“We are thrilled with Stu’s wins. They are a credit to his quarter century of experience, attention to detail and huge skill in his very specialised area of expertise. We are hugely proud of him at Metropolis.”
Ian Brenchley, CEO Metropolis Studios.

Stu’s awards cabinet must be near bursting point… Think previous MOBO Awards, Grammys, Brit Awards… Here’s to the next major award ceremony!
