Studio A, with a large live room perfect for ensembles, a dead room and stone room, offers an array of acoustic options.
The control room is over 80 square meters with separate machine and amp rooms. The recording area has three separate studios surrounding the control room with different acoustic properties. The studio has been designed to maximise visual communication with floor to ceiling glass between all areas including control room and studios and large daylight windows. The studio is completed by a private lounge situated above the control room featuring a reception area looking down onto all studio areas, a kitchen and toilet.
Studio A is the largest of the two tracking rooms at Metropolis. The 55m² control room houses an SSL 9072 ‘J’ series console with PMC main monitors; an ideal room for tracking or mixing.
The studio area comprises three rooms with distinct acoustic properties: a main area (80m²), a stone room (5m2/11m²) and a ‘dead’ room (15m²), each with ceilings close to 6m high and excellent lines of sight for musicians and engineer. All of these areas have the added and somewhat exceptional advantage of natural daylight and can handle demanding tracking and orchestral sessions of up to 26 players.
Studio A has historically been popular with the industry’s biggest most private stars such as George Michael and Queen who recorded Innuendo and Listen Without Prejudice albums.
The live room is also used for concerts and album playbacks.
